YOU HAVE FOUND HER. Everything the serious off shore cruiser could want, but was afraid to ask for. And for the coastal sailor who wants the prettiest, most salty traditional design ever to be launched, this one is for you.
Westsail boats have become legend in knowledgeable sailing circles, and this particular vessel has a custom designed interior that expands the interior floor space way beyond the standard factory layout, while maximizing the available storage area.
Her hull was molded in 1977 by the factory with all the basic components, and then her first owner spent 4 years custom building the interior with features and fine materials way beyond what was standard fair at the time. She was not launched until 1981.
Her custom teak and blend of woods in the interior could be featured in the elegant sailing vessels from the Golden Age of Yachting, as well as her fine accents on deck.
Please note the extensive list of optional equipment, and quality built into this vessel.
This is truly the most value you will ever find in a true blue water cruiser

- Accommodations
- Entering this vessel down the heavily built custom companionway stairs the U-shaped galley is to port. Beautifully finished cabinets provide ample storage and there is a new double stainless steel sink on her center-line, providing good drainage on either tack. There is also a custom designed fold up counter which greatly increases the galley work space.
To starboard is the traditional stand-up nav. table with all the proper instruments, breaker panel and storage lockers and drawers plus: a built in stereo, and built in microwave.
Next is where the the interior of this vessel departs from the rest. She has been designed with two opposing settees and a fold down dinning table that can be opened facing one settee only, and still allow ample room to pass forward, or opened to its full extent to comfortably seat 4-6 guests. When not in use, the dining table folds back against the main bulkhead and is properly secured. This change from the traditional dinette interior opens up the main cabin and gives the impression that this vessel is much larger than her sister ships.
The Port settee opens to a full double when needed, or remains a comfortable sea berth for one.
To starboard is another standard height settee, which also can be used as a single sea berth. This is a departure from the traditional raised sea berth and provides a safe berth with much additional storage cabinetry
Forward of the saloon is a full head to port, and a cedar lined hanging locker to starboard. The owner's cabin is forward of the head and has a solid wood door that closes for privacy.
There is more than ample ventilation with her eleven, specially built, over sized bronze opening ports. And a feature not commonly found on W-32"s, an over sized and secure custom opening hatch in the main cabin. She also has an opening hatch in the owner's cabin.
More than enough ventilation when on the hook, and ALSO, a 12,000 BTU air conditioning system for those hot tropical days and nights in a marina.
Please see the pictures to get a feeling for the beautiful custom tongue and groove woodwork on the cabin overhead with finished deck beams and carlins, and the elegantly planked upper cabin sides. The interior is a traditional blend of finely finished woodwork and white painted surfaces which give her a very salty and bright interior in the Herreshoff style. 12,000 BTU Central Air Conditioning, sea water cooled Sony stereo system Two large hatches and eleven over-sized opening ports, all screened Numerous cabin lights A/C outlets External phone/cable jack Deck external water connector for dockside usage Sleeps two in private owner's cabin, and up to three guests Two excellent sea berths in main saloon for off-watch quick access to deck

- Mechanical & Engine Room
- Perkins 50 hp engine gives this vessel adequate power for any sea condition. Note: many of the Westsail 32 boats were built with much smaller engines which were totally inadequate for this heavy displacement model. Note the low hours on the engine. It has been well maintained and is in like new condition. Perkins 4 cylinder 50 hp engine Special 3 blade prop Automatic bilge pumps and large capacity built in Whale manual pump
- Sails and Rigging
- The Westsail 32 has a powerful cutter rig. Performance is really outstanding on the open sea, considering her solid construction and heavy displacement. Her heavy displacement and strong rig allow her to carry full sail when lesser boats are reefed down. This rig also allows for a multitude of sail combinations to match conditions. Harken roller furling jib system, serviced less than one year ago including replacement of forestay Staysail w/ self tending boom Main with lazy jack system All sails in excellent condition Self tailing Barlow #25 primary winches Three halyard winches on mast Boom Vang Sta-Lock fittings on all standing rigging
- Brokers Comments
- The Westsail 32 was created by Bill Crealock to be the ultimate cruising boat. It is now considered to be a piece of yachting history. This particular W-32 has been custom built to be at the top of her class and has been maintained in Bristol condition. Whether you use her to "Sail The World", as she was intended, or sail along the coast and through protected harbors and bays, you will be at the helm of the finest vessel afloat. She is as seaworthy as the day she was launched and from her beautiful bowsprit to her rugged rudder stock, this powerful cutter rigged vessel is as much a work of art as the means to extend your domain. She is truly a classic and will increase in value as the years pass by.
